Process Overview

What is CNC Milling?

CNC (Computer Numerical Control) milling is a highly precise subtractive manufacturing process. It utilizes computerized controls and rotating multi-point cutting tools to progressively remove material from a solid workpiece to produce a custom-designed part.

Unlike turning where the workpiece spins, in milling, the material remains stationary while the high-speed cutting tool moves across multiple axes (typically 3, 4, or 5 axes). This allows for the creation of complex geometries, slots, and detailed surface finishes.

Key Advantages

  • High Precision: Achieves tight tolerances up to ±0.01mm.
  • Material Versatility: Compatible with both hard metals and engineering plastics.
  • Scalability: Highly efficient for both single prototypes and mass production runs.

Max Part Size by Axis

Milling Setup Soft Metals & Plastics Hard Metals (Steel, Ti)
3-Axis Milling 2000 x 1500 x 200 mm
or 1500 x 800 x 500 mm
1200 x 800 x 500 mm
3+2 Axis Milling 2000 x 1500 x 200 mm 1200 x 800 x 500 mm
5-Axis Milling 2000 x 1500 x 200 mm

CNC Milling RFQ & FAQs

Everything you need to know about starting your custom CNC milling project with Huade Precision.

How do I submit an RFQ for custom CNC milling services?

Simply send us your 3D CAD files (STEP, IGES, STL) and 2D drawings through our Quote page. Our engineering team will perform a free Design for Manufacturability (DFM) review and provide a detailed, competitive price for your precision machined components within 24 hours.

What is the standard lead time for CNC milled parts?

For rapid prototyping, we can deliver parts in as little as 3-5 days. For high-volume 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining production runs, timelines depend on geometric complexity and material availability, typically ranging from 1 to 3 weeks.

What tolerances can your 5-axis CNC milling machines achieve?

Our state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machining centers can hold standard tolerances of ± 0.05 mm (ISO 2768-m), and up to ± 0.01 mm for high-precision demands in aerospace, medical, and automotive CNC parts.
